catch up on the monthly demon’s digest
Hi I'm Kez, I have been involved in coaching women's football for the last 7 years. I have coached at Fitzroy, Eastern Park, Payneham and TTG. I have been appointed the women's senior coach for the 2025 season and it's somewhat of a homecoming for me as I began my coaching career here at Hope Valley in the nemjfa competition when my son played juniors here, firstly an assistant and then as an u16 coach. The playing group have been out on the tack since early January, preparing for the season ahead, we are getting to know each other and build connections, and a team first attitude. We know that Div 2 is a tough competition with strong opposition and we will need to be at our best on a weekly basis if we want to push deep into the year. We look forward to the challenge and will tackle it head on!!
With a deep passion for football and a commitment to player development, I bring a wealth of experience and a dynamic coaching philosophy to every team I lead. My coaching journey has been shaped by a dedication to open, honest communication and a focus on fostering a positive environment where players can thrive.
MY COACHING PHILOSOPHY:To educate and lead through open, honest communication so that players develop and understand what we are trying to achieve together as a group
I believe in developing players by recognising their strengths, identifying areas for improvement, and tailoring the team's game plan to maximise our collective potential. By focusing on lessons learned from losses and highlighting positives from each game, I aim to maintain a positive outlook and encourage continuous improvement. I prioritise face-to-face communication with each athlete, setting individual goals, and building a strong support network with assistant coaches to ensure cohesive teamwork.
Throughout my coaching career, I have had the privilege of working with esteemed coaches such as Darren Mead, John Paynter, Nathan Grainger, and Shayne O’Dea, who have significantly influenced my coaching style and professionalism. My approach includes leading by example with planning and organisational skills, fostering trust and respect, effective communication, commitment, and promoting growth at both individual and club levels.
My name is Brylee Cook and I am the women’s B grade coach for the 2025 season! Although this is my first time coaching, I have plenty of experience playing footy as I started when I was 13 years old, when the girls/women’s competitions were only just starting out. Since then, I have grown with the competition to see it as it is today. I’ve been involved at two local clubs in my career, Modbury and Hope Valley. I started as a junior in the u16’s at Modbury where we only had 4 teams in the competition total. I played multiple games a weekend for years, across the u16’s, u18’s and senior women’s who were in Division 1 at the time. I then made the switch over to Hope Valley and it was the best decision I’ve ever made. My first year in the u18’s, we won the Grand Final and have continued to build a strong women’s program at the club that I am proud to be a part of, with a few more premierships added along the way. I played in the inaugural SANFL junior girls competition, as well as being a part of the inaugural SAWFL women’s team, both at Norwood. I’ve picked up a lot of valuable footy knowledge over the years that I am excited to pass down to the next generation of women’s players coming through and I hope to have paved the way well for those girls too. This season, my goal for my B grade girls is to get the best out of each of my players and make sure they’re enjoying their footy. When the girls are enjoying their footy and learning one on one in a supportive environment, I feel that’s when they’ll play best and I’m confident we’ll definitely get a few more wins on the board this season
Hey I’m Brad Greenfield, known around the club as Greeny. I started my football journey with Hope Valley in the U6’s in 2004. I played approximately 120 junior games for the club, plus 2 years away from Hope Valley in 2010 & 2013. During my junior years I was exposed to Norwood FC’s development programs from U14-U18s, where I was able to understand structured game plans. I have played all my senior football with Hope Valley, and last year was fortunate enough to play my 150th senior game, which is currently my most treasured moment in my football journey. In 2016 I gained my first glimpse at coaching, being fortunate enough to step in for Brett Shepherdson for 2 games at the end of that footy year, as he was moving away for work. 2017 saw me officially step into coaching being announced as the clubs U18s coach. I’ve held numerous coaching roles at this club I call home, including U15’s, B grade assistant, A grade assistant, now currently coaching B grade and U17.5 men’s teams. My passion for coaching is guiding our younger players from juniors to seniors and seeing them develop into good senior footballers, but more importantly, good young men. I’ve loved seeing the development of our younger guys that we currently have, and knowing that I’ve played a small part of their football journey and lives gives me great joy.
I’ve proudly been part of the Hope Valley Football Club since 1996, starting out as a junior player and still continuing playing today with over 250 senior games for the Red & Blue. Over my senior playing career, I’ve been lucky enough to be part of three premiership winning teams and had the honour of captaining the C Grade side in 2021. I started my first coaching role with Hope Valley in 2022, co-coaching the C Grade for the season, and since 2023, I’ve also been involved with junior coaching, helping develop the future stars of the club. I’m excited to pull on the boots once again this year and to continue my involvement with the C Grade by stepping back into co-coaching for the 2025 season. Hope Valley isn’t just a footy club, it’s a community and a second home. I’m proud to keep contributing to the club’s success both on and off the field.
